Back to Grand Hotel Baglioni Gorgeous Hotel with the Best View of the City! We picked this hotel because it was close to the train station. What a great choice. It was a beautiful hotel with the Italian charm that I was looking for. I would have preferred a street view however you still have the old style large windows with shutters that opened out into a courtyard. This hotels best feature was the rooftop terrace. It has multi level small seating areas with the most incredible view of the entire city. Totally unobstructed 360 degree view that was incredible. It was by far my favorite hotel in Italy. My ONLY complaint was the staff in the reception area. They were not the friendliest group of people and looked just as bored to be there as in most american hotels. They were helpful when asked but just not too friendly. Besides that I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 31 2009 Never again A friend and I stayed here during a recent business trip. We disliked the hotel so much that we left Florence a night early. We both had bad colds, and the room was either so hot that we couldn't sleep (windows closed, no air conditioning), or so loud that we couldn't sleep (windows open). The room was small and dark and unappealing. The staff were unhelpful and borderline rude, definitely not even remotely attentive. During the day, since we weren't feeling so great, we wanted to spend some time lounging in the hotel and reading and people watching; the bar was dark and uninviting. It was too cold and rainy for the outdoor rooftop, and except for breakfast, the restaurant was locked until 7:30, so we couldn't sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. The only good thing that can be said for this hotel is the location.
Reviewed by: Sandra from on Apr 17 2009 Great Place I stayed here with my new husband during our honeymoon. It was a great place. Right across from the train station. It has beautiful interior, with dark wood everywhere. It's what you would want a typical italian hotel to look like. I didn't have a great need to ask for much while there so I don't have alot to go on about there service. But when I did deal with the staff it was a great experience.
Reviewed by: Wendi from on Sep 05 2008 Wonderful Experience The location is very close to the train station which some people don't like, but I found very convenient and always felt safe. The staff was awesome and helpful. My wife has a gluten food allergy and was thrilled to find that their restaurant had gluten free pasta! This was a big plus. We were close enough to walk all over town. The breakfast was delicious and offered up a outstanding view of the city. Loved this place and I will go back !
Reviewed by: Jim from on Feb 29 2008 Near the Duomo The Hotel is in a fantastic position only about 2 minutes walk from the Duomo, it takes a little finding though as it is up a narrow side street. The hotel is in the oldest residential building in Florence and the public areas of the hotel are very impressive and atmospheric. Another plus feature is that the hotel has a roof terrace with fantastic views of the Duomo.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 01 2007 Great location, but poor service from all staff members This hotel is located across from the train station. It's perfect if you want to use Florence as your base and take day trips to Siena, Pisa, etc... You can basically walk everywhere from this hotel location, however, there is a bit BUT!!!! Be prepare to face the rudest and poorest service any hotel can provide you with. From the concierge to the bell person, no one smiles nor is anyone interested or eager to help you with questions or service.... Awful customer service!!! We are from Miami and used to rude people, but the Grand Hotel Baglioni took the word rudeness to a whole different level.....
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 15 2007 The Best of the best My sister a friend and I stayed here for 10 days- every day we were greated by smiling faces- the front desk was so very helpful and patient-they all spoke english which was also very helpful. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The beds -just like home-did not miss one nights sleep. The location was perfect- right in the middle of all that was happening. We hired a private driver for one day through the hotel and he wa perfect-loved his job and took us wherever we wanted to go-fabulous. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone anticipating going to Florence. It was our first time and we will stay here again.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 22 2007 love this place I went to this hotel in May of this year (2006). What I loved the best was the roof top terrace, and the hotels restaurant. You have a great view of Duomo from the very large windows at the restaurant, and I would suggest eating there at sunset. The way that the sun hits Duomo as it sets is a perfect setting. The roof top terrace also makes for a perfect setting. It sets you up for how romantic this city is.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 07 2006 we had a great time!!! We liked everything about the hotel, except a receptionist at reception informed us that the bus to Pisa airport went every half hour on the hour, and it didn't!!!!!
