We just returned from a two week stay in Italy including stops in Rome, Venice, Lake Como and Milan - as well as Florence. Our favorite hotel during our trip was the Hotel Savoy in Florence. The attentive staff, clean, hip, large accommodations and prime location made it an awesome place to stay in Florence. My only advice is to use resources like Yahoo Travel to find places you want to visit and restaurants where you want to eat. The concierge recommendations were the best.

One of best hotel experiences we've had. Located a few hundred yards from il duomo in the heart of florence (had a great view of the famous landmark from our window), this hotel has it all: great vibe (like an upscale w), great rooms (nice hardwood floors), great service (concierge hooked us up with one great restaurant after another). only real con was we didn't stay long enough. highly recommended.
