People who are looking for a hotel in this area which is not too expensive should not be put off by the name of this hotel. It is however a pleasant establishment in an extremely good location. It is located on one of the quietest stretches of rue Edouard Herriot. It is slightly set back from the road itself, next to the small Place Francisque Régaud; it is also only a few minutes walk from the Terreaux and from the banks of the Saône.

An awful hotel
I stayed here on 22 March 2007. The outside of the hotel looks very nice and the location is obviously great. However .... inside the hotel is a completely different story. Not a centime has been spent on this place in the past 20 years. EVERYTHING was broken (lights, bathscreen, hairdryer, mirror), or missing (remote control) or so dirty you didn't want to touch it. The curtains & voiles hadn't been cleaned in at least 10 years, they were dark yellow with dirt, and you could have stood them upright by themselves. Disgusting. When I asked for my phone line to be opened, so that I could place a call, the staff did not know how to do that. The spiral staircase down to the basement where breakfast is served is so rickety that it moves and sways and was frankly scary. This was one of the very worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune to stay at, and I wouldn't go back for all the tea in China. Sorry, but there it is.
