Back to Hotel ZaZa Its ok... just needs better staff I like the whole atmosphere of ZaZa. The rooms, the bar area, the patio, and dining area downstairs. The lobby area is very nice along with alot of other things.I can say ZaZa looks very sophisticated and sheek but the staff are either dumb or think your dumb. My friend order Riesling and the waiter brought her chardonnay saying it was Riesling like we dont know how it taste. They went back and forth and the waiter came back and brought Riesling and said sorry it was the wrong wine. You dont have to be a wine expert to know what you are drinking. Went back with another friend on her Birthday and we were in the mood for cosmos! The waitress brought us some of the nastiest drink i have ever drunk. She assured me it was a cosmo.I went up to the bar and told the bartender what is this and for him to taste it, he told me it wasnt a cosmo and he think the new girl made it.This happen again a time after this, wrong drink. You spend 15 to 20 bucks on drinks and they try to trick you or give you a cheaper drink and put a name on it. I dont want to play the race card but honestly i was thinking they thought oh we dont know what we drinking. To go back and forth with waiters is crazy and come to find it wasnt the right drink. So this is a update on the zaza make sure you know what you ordered is what you REALLY ORDERED!!!
Reviewed by: Lashondra from on Sep 15 2009 I got better service at Denny's I scheduled a business lunch at the Hotel Zaza in Houston's restaurant, The Monarch. Upon arrival I asked if my guest had arrived. This was a first meeting and I did not know what she looked like. I was assured she had not. I gave them her name and asked to please be on the lookout for her. I was seated in the main walkway through the restuarant so that I could see anyone arriving or departing. I repeatedly went to the host stand to ask if she had arrived or if anyone had called. I was unable to get a line on my cell anywhere within the hotel or restaurant (one of the waiters suggested I try walking down the street...it was raining). After 50 minutes of waiting, I saw a very annoyed looking woman waiting to get her parking ticket validated. I asked a gentleman (who looked like a manager) if she had been looking for someone and he said he didn't know. I called out the name of the person I was to meet with and she turned around. She had arrived minutes before me and had been told by the host/ess that I had not arrived yet and that tthey would seat her and let me know that she was there when I arrived. She was very mad and no longer had time for a meeting. This meeting took months to set up and could cost my company $$$$. The response I got from everyone in the restaurant was "I didn't know". I also left a message with the General Manager - NO RESPONSE. Bad Service at its very worst!!!
Reviewed by: Sheila from on Feb 13 2008 shockingly unsophisticated! kir royale looked and tasted like fruit punch. sent it back. $15 glass of wine stale. didn't send back but 2nd glass of same wine much better. toilet backed up all the way to the rim. told hostesss, they fixed it (we checked before leaving out of curiosity) but a big turd was on the floor in plain view! valet people we left our car with were gone for the night but no signage was indicating this. we waited out in the cold for several minutes before walking around the corner to the hotel entrance. in addition to leaving their number tag on our dash and on our key chain the valet people stole 50 cents out of our car!

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 24 2007 Who needs the necessities if you have the luxuries I stayed two nights there Sept. 12 and 13 to attend a conference at the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston next door. I used to stay at the Warwick until the interim between them and ZaZa. There is a saying: "who needs the necessities if you have the luxuries." Well is you are a beautiful 20-something fashion model whose pictures were all over the place, I suppose it is fine. But I am an 84-year old (maybe not the kind of individual you are trying to attract) and found luxuries (a see-through glass sink) I don't need, but no mirror in the bedroom or anything to hold onto in the tub.Fortunately I have good balance.Furthermore whoever designed the tub should have their head examined. The fixed glass partition on the side of the tap, makes it impossible to turn it on, placing the stopper in the tub, or turning it to shower without climbing in and getting wet before you re ready, or scalded if the temperature isn't right. The round magnifying mirror in the corner of the sink is impossible to reach and when you do, its magnifying scale makes it impossible to use. The beds are comfortable, but please, put a mirror in the bedroom. Somehow it should be part of the wall where there is a giant flat TV screen. Mirrors instead of so many pictures of wan fashion models floating in the breeze would have been better. Or do you not wish to attract active 84-year olds. My young colleagues who shared a room there had a shower but not even a tub and they would have loved one. You may give the impression of great luxury at overrated prices, but some comforts are really missing. ZaZa has great convenience of location going for it. I got tired of the Medical Plaza Hilton between the Warwick and ZaZa. I plan on coming back next time I go to the MFAH but I want a mirror in the bedroom and a tub with a tap I can reach without having to climb into it before I am ready to.

Reviewed by: Daniella from on Sep 13 2007 Good Times, Great Memories, and a side of attitude All in all a good experiance except the very end. The location and the view were great, the staff was very helpful and quick to help us out with anything we needed. We stayed overnight at the Texas Tycoon suite and had a great party for our business. The room looked good and all the furniture was very comfortable. Unfortunatly we had a bad run in with the least professional manager I've seen in a long time. There were a few damages, like any good party, and we let them know and are paying for them. But we won't ever be back, the manager treated us like dirt and went so far as to insult our guests, in our room right in front of them. A shame because the rest of the staff was on the ball and made everything before that point a great time.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 29 2007 Don't bother We stayed in one of the suites, which was not inexpensive. But the care they gave to us was very poor. Room was always cleaned very late in the day so we couldn't come back and rest. They never reequiped the room with the basics like water, soap, shampoo,Qtips, toletpaper, etc. We had to call and ask almost daily during our 6 night stay. The decor is fun and interesting for a change but they have a lot to learn on how to take care of the well off traveler. Don't think we will ever come back again except the location is fabulous. Still don't think that would convience me to stay here again though. The pool area is beautiful but again if you don't have good service it's not much fun. We waited for a very long time to get a drink in the bar and the help seemed to be overwelmed with everything. I think they need a good training program and maybe we tryed it to soon after opening. But since we come to Houston about 4 times a year we wanted to try the newest Hotel.
Reviewed by: John from on Jun 30 2007 Setting a Standard Hotel ZaZa is the hottest place in Houston! I travel to Houston all the time for business and I can honestly say that Hotel ZaZa is the finest hotel. The staff is completely professional and fun and very good-looking. The decor and ambiance make you feel as though you are on vacation (even though I came for business). One of the best parts is that they let me bring my dog and treated her like royalty. A couple of friends joined me in the Monarch Lounge and we all agreed that we had the best time ever in Houston...probably one of the best bars I have ever been to. I plan to come back, but next time just for pleasure. Hotel ZaZa just made Houston a hot spot for vacation!!!
