Needs some TLC
We stay at this Westin probably 10 nights a year for the last 4 years. We've enjoyed it, but in our last few visits we have noticed that an update is needed. The carpets could be changed out or at least a good cleaning and the bathrooms could use some updating. The rooms are nice and big with a great overall look, but it seems like they could take whole experience up a few notches by opening up the bathrooms.

Better elsewhere
Having stayed many times in Houston's Galleria area, the Westin is a huge disappointment. The Omni, the JW Marriot, Hilton Post Oak and Intercontinental all are much more modern and clean. The Westin should be ashamed of the terribly outdated look of the facility and the minimal comforts of the room. The bed is fine but the rooms feel like a concrete box with little creature comforts. The place is dingy with old and dirty grey carpets and elevators that are beat up and creaky. Room service is average quality. Using priceline, you can get bargains in this area better than the Westin's prices. Westin, spend some money on this premier location and bring it up-to-date or take the name Westin off of the hotel.

Kind of stingy
The room was a good size with comfortable beds. It was very clean and elegant. The staff is very helpfull and kind. The location is of course wonderfull. The only thing is they are extremly stingy! I woke up and made myself a cup of coffee, that i figured was complementary, only to find that i was going to be billed for it. Even some of the cheapest hotels the coffee is free. (And by the way they also charge for the internet.) Everything was nice but for the price i paid i fell like i should of been able to enjoy my coffee .

They goofed and fixed it
I recently stayed there for a business trip, which my company paid for. My air conditioning did not work properly and I called every day, Monday through Friday, to get it fixed. They never fixed it although they said someone would come and do so. Upon check out, I informed the staff that it was not taken care of. They promptely refunded me all of my incidental charges and gave me a free night at any Starwood Resort. Although I would of rather had air conditioning, they did what they could to fix the situation.

Great Location to Shop
Since they are paired with the Westin Oaks on the other side of the mall, they flip flop my reservations when they ran out of rooms at the Westin Oaks. They initially gave me 2 rooms on 2 different floors, but then finally got us rooms right across the hall from the other.

Everything was fabulous!
This hotel offers everything: location, price, luxury, and service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bars/restaurants were wonderful. We loved our hotel room so much we didn't want to leave!

Houston & ice skating?
The rooms at the Westin Galleria are comfortable - make sure you request one of the "heavenly" rooms that the hotel is known for. Down feather beds and plush towels & robes help you relax at the end of the day. Business amenities are lacking (high speed access from the room was inconsistent at best). Because it is attached to the mall, food selection ranges from typical mall food to chain restaurants. The fact that it's Houston does mean you'll probably sweat to death outside and eventually escape to your room to cool down. A different (and cool) option is to simply go down a few floors and into the attached Houston Galleria shopping mall. They have a year round ice rink in the middle!

The Westin Galleria - great hotel
The Westin Galleria is in a great location - right above the giant Galleria mall. And what else is there to do in Houston but shop? We stayed there the weekend of April 9, 2004 and the hotel looked like it had been recently remodeled. The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. Parking was free. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. And the Westin beds are the most comfortable anywhere. Overall, a great downtown hotel.

Very Good Location
Good shopping locaion. It is perfect if you do not have a car because you do not need one; everything is downstairs. The Mall is connected to the Hotel. The room is very clean and inviting. You will love it...;-)
