Student Friendly
I studied abroad in Florence and lived right around the corner from Piazza Santo Spirito. As a student, you are always looking for the best deal and La Casalinga was awesome. The food is homemade as this is a family run restaurant. The vibe is busy but not annoying. I highly recommend this trattoria, it was a great value with great food, oh yea and cheap wine! Buon Appetito!

Eat like a Florentine!
We've been eating at Casalinga since student days in the 1970's - it is the first & most authentic place I take visitors to Florence. The Tuscan meals are absolutley authentic (Casalinga means home-style in Italian!), the service is typical of a neighborhood restaurant (which this is!), and the ambience is just down-home Florence. The panzerotta (bread soup), tonno, cipolla & fagioli (white beans, red onion & tuna) are about the best I've eaten in Italy (been living in & visiting Florence since 1970) - its a must visit for anyone going to Firenze!!

Value plus
Casalinga was, by far, the best restaurant value we found in our 10 days in Italy.Authentic Italian home cooking in a neighborhood ambiance. The guest were mostly locals.(no English spoken here but we got by)My wife said the pesto was the best she ever tasted..............This place opens at 7:30 and is filled, with a waiting line ,by 8:00

NO TOURISTS!! (except me)
no tourists but hard to find and like most authentic Italian restaurants, they don't open until 7:30 or so. Everything was unbelievable. The tuscan bread, the white beans, the pesto, the tomato sauce, on and on.

A cheap way to end your day
My brother and I stumbled upon this place several years ago, and when I went back to live in Florence it was a on the top of my list of restaraunts. The food is fantastically cheap for a city like florence, and the fare is truly Florentine. It does not have a romantinc atmosphere, nor a lavishly decorated ambiance, but what you it lacks in pomp it makes up for in quality, and price. If you don't want to spen 40 euro at Latini or 100 euro at Beccofino, go to Casalinga where you can get it all for under 20.
