Extremely overpriced
My husband and I just spent two nights at Bauer Venezia, including the New Year's Eve. We paid Euro500 per night but were very disappointed at the experience. The furniture in the room was old and unclean and the bathroom was poorly maintained. The room had absolutely no view but facing three sides of walls. Most importantly, there was a big problem with the ventilation system. The heat was too strong in our room and there was no way to tune it down. At the end we had to shut down the heat but the room remained to be hot and stuffy. My husband and I both got sick after the first night and we requested to switch to another room (which had a slightly better ventilation but still no view and small) for the second night. Nevertheless the damage had been done and we both suffered from cold and headache on our way back from Venice.

Disappointing Experience at The Bauer
After first checking in to the Bauer on a Saturday morning, we immediately complained about our room (a very small, dark room with broken furniture). After some initial grumbling, the front desk moved us to another room that at least included non-broken furniture - although the room was still small & dark and the bed was quite uncomfortable. At this point I contacted the manager on duty to complain again, but was basically told that there was nothing they could do - despite the fact that we were paying top dollar for these accomodations. It wasn't until after our travel agent got in contact with the local travel contacts that the Bauer was willing to take notice of our disappointment. After spending one night in the less than desirable room, the hotel manager moved us to a large suite. My primary frusteration was that it took more than 24 hours to resolve this and we have to move three separate times. Other than this experience, the hotel itself is in a great location and the buffet breakfast serviced on the deck overlooking the Grand Canal is very beautiful.

Beatiful hotel
I loved this hotel, and have stayed in at least half a dozen in Venice. This one is by far one of the nicest.

Great Place in Great Location
We did like the service at the Bauer's not necessarily the best but one of the best we had so far. The Staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was average for a 5 Star Hotel. The beds (European Style beds are not comparable to King size beds in the states, though they were very comfortable).

Disappointing!
The hotel is very overpriced for what you get. The breakfast was awful and if you stay in the Casa Nova you don't need an alarm clock, as long as you want to get up at 7.30am as the bells of the church are rung at that time, not to mention the vibrating bedroom wall!!!

TERRIBLE PLACE TO STAY!
I STAYED THERE FOR FOUR NIGHTS, THEY CHARGED ME A LOT OF MONEY, AND THEY GAVE ME A ROOM WHERE I COULD SEE THE NEXT BUILDING, AND THEY ALSO COULD SEE ME FROM THE OTHER BUILDING, PLUS THE STAFF IS NOT POLITE, THE BREAKFAST WAS REALLY BAD.

3 Nights in Venice
The Hotel is in a great location to see all of Venice. The service from check-in to check-out was superior. Spend the extra money for the upgraded room it is spacious and beautiful even if the view is of the building next door. The only drawback: do not take the concierge advised trip to Murano, cost $60.00 CASH and they only take you to one small glass factory on the island and the sole purpose is to sell you their glass collection.

This is the place to stay!
This was a wonderful hotel. The entire staff was great. We would stay there again in a heartbeat! They went the extra mile to make our week stay in Venice very comfortable! It was worth every penny!

Save your money
The Hotel Bauer is not like it is pictured or described in their website. The way overpriced rooms have a view of the hotel 6 feet away. The bathroom window is covered with some flimsy curtain where the next door hotel can easily look in and vice versa. The view is like you are looking out onto a NYC tenement. The television is the size of a 15" pc monitor and has poor reception. The front desk was not helpful. The one good thing was that they had decent food in their breakfast buffet. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels and this stay at the Bauer was such a disappointment.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Grand Experience
This is awsome hotel at great location. Slightly expensive, but the cleanliness, promptness from housekeeping, room service and reception is great. Rooms are spacious and grand. Breakfast is supurb and quality food and drinks give pleasant experience. Conceirge service is however awfull, as they have very lethargic people in that area who do not understand that first time tourists need clear and precise information and recommendations. Overall, the hotel is worth it. It is just 3 minutes from San Marco square and you can go in and out several times during shopping or site seeing and freshen up or unload shopped items.
