Occupying two floors, this well designed Pan-Asian vegetarian spot serves tasty and inventive meals that will win over even hardcore carnivores. It is popular and often crowded, although reservations are not usually necessary. The top floor restaurant is slightly more expensive, but the downstairs cafe is just as good, albeit louder. The downstairs counter is also perfect for dining alone. Zen Palate does not serve alcohol.

A Vegetarian Mecca
Zen Palate offers something for everyone, including people who "don't do vegetarian." There are three locations (Union Square, midtown, and Upper Westside) and each one is a little different, but offers the same menu. I highly recommend the sesame medallions; the rose petals, curry supreme, and moo shu Mexican style are also safe bets. Do note, however, that just because it's an all veggie menu, does not mean that it's an all healthy menu. There's got to be a reason that it tastes so delicious, and my guess is a good dose of fat, salt, and sugar. But, man, it's worth it.
