(Ponte de sospiri) Called that since the little window onthe bridge is the last time prisoners saw the outside before crossing the bridge from the court house to the prison. Guards would hear them sigh as the looked out for the last time. Truely unique.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 05 2005 Bridge of History The only fully covered bridge in Venice. You can take a tour and see this in person, but I saw it from a gondola ride underneath it. Fascinating! Our gondola driver/guide told us about it. It was a bridge that use to lead to a prison. The last look out to the world for many of the prisoners was through the windows in this bridge. Then many would serve life sentences. Lots of history! It is by St marks Square area and Harry's Pub too.
