Back to Crowne Plaza Served its purpose No microwave, no fridge, so we couldn't bring back leftovers. Parking is $33 a day. Staff was nice. I see others complained about noise; we were lucky enough to have a room on the top floor kind of off to the side by ourselves. Housekeeping was good, they even left towels and other supplies for us on the door when our do not disturb sign was up. Conveniently located downtown. If I had to do over again I would probably have chosen a different hotel.
Reviewed by: Brittiney from on Oct 25 2009 We will never stay here! My family and I drove 6 hours to get there and when we go to park we find out it is $33 a day to park at the hotel!!!! I have never heard of hotels charging their customers to park. When I went to check in they need to hold $50.00 a day for "damages" just in case on our credit card. We gladly declined to stay their and left to come back home. The inside was very drab and we witnessed the valet people yelling at guest to hurry up and load their car and get out of the way because they were taking to long. Aweful service if you ask me
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 10 2009 Very nice stay We booked through Hotwire.com ($69/night). Location is fantastic - 3 blocks from city center on Market St. Room was clean, although a little small. Acoustics were good and could not hear much of the noise outside of the hotel room. Staff was prompt and professional.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 17 2009 Not so great My boyfriend had an executive training session in the hotel. He booked a king room and when we checked in they didn't have any ready. We took a queen room instead. The room was so small two people could not cross the same path at the same time in the room. We called to get moved and the desk people took over 15 mins to call us back. We ended up calling them again. They gave us a hard time when we said we would wait for the room to be ready and then switch. We got switched and our non smoking room smelled like stale smoke. I ordered room service the first night because my boyfriend had dinner plans with the group he was training with. For a hotel at this price you would think they served real mashed potatoes instead of instant potatoes for a meal that cost a total of $34. The hotel is being remodeled. Who knows what else will be bad but i've seen enough. I'm waiting for my car to be damaged when they bring it back from the parking garage that is being worked on. We'll see.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jan 29 2008 For this price, stay somewhere else in center city The folks who work here are very nice and provide excellent service. The front desk staff happily made copies for me (as long as one doesn't go overboard). The workout room is nice. Everything's kept clean, but the condition of the building affects how clean it looks. The location is perfect. However, at the price they charge to stay here, this building should be pristine and beautiful and it is anything but. From the outside, it looks like Soviet architecture. On the inside, it is worn down and extremely shoddy. In Center City, you can stay at beautiful places for the same price. The thermostats are stupid, outdated devices. There is no temperature gauge on them. It's a "cool" to "warm" range for the switch. I found myself putting the switch up and down trying to get the room to the right temperature. They need modern thermostats where you can enter the precise temperature you want. I'm sorry but they need to lower the price of this place until they update the facilities and overall building.
Reviewed by: satisfied from on Nov 18 2007 Nice LITTLE hotel room The room was nice and clean, but the bathrooms were really tiny. The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, the hotel is located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia- There was a mall down the street with an excellent food court. I would stay here again.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 04 2007 wait till construction done Overall a supurb place with great service but the garage is being remodeled and the staff won't tell you that at 7am the concrete air jack hammers will start pounding and vibrating the entire 25 story hotel. The notice from the hotel general manager severely minimizes the inconvenience with words like--may cause some guest disturbance or limit some guest services--. I complained and got an immediate refund from my reservation service which was priceline. The crowd each morning at the front desk demanding refunds leads one to suspect all staff knew of the problem and it was a company decision not to loose any bookings by properly cautioning arriving guests in advance.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 19 2006 I was a Marriot Fan, But I'm Going Crowne Plaza From Now On I loved it. The service was great, the people were very nice, the guest services associate was most resourceful. We had checked out early, but my wife still had bussiness to tend to and i had nothing to do, so I wanted internet access. I didnt have a wireless card for the free wifi in the Starbucks at the hotel, so i spoke to the front desk. The man there was really pleasant. He made a special access key for the bussiness room so i could use their high speed internet connection. I felt like they really cared, because they already had our money and we were done doing bussiness, but they still cared enough to offer their courtesy and services. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, conviently located hotel in down town Philly.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 06 2005 Average weekend My boyfriend and I selected the Crowne Plaza to celebrate our anniversary last October (Halloween weekend). The location was excellent and we were able to get to most of the places we wanted to go by foot, cab or the trolley/bus system. The restaurant was fun and festive (employees wore costumes). The room was very small and cramped and definitely not what I expected from the Crowne Plaza. On the plus side, the bed was SO comfortable. The alarm clocks had CD players (great bonus), which we both felt came in handy when - on the down side - the wall vents gave away at full volume the "explicit activities" going on in a nearby room. Unfortunately it was while we were trying to get some rest and after a few giggles it became down right irritating. Glad there were no kids present. But other than that, the stay was fun, check in and check out were speedy and the employees were quite nice.
