We had to get a last minute room at Hotel Barcelo after the highly rated Hotel Tikal Futura cancelled our reservation for someone with cash in hand at the registration desk...unfortunately a common occurence in Guatemala hotels. Our room was spotless with an in-room safe, in-room bar, extensive bath samples, large TV and a heated pool(the lows were 56 degrees at nite) that closed late in the evening. The best part was the included breakfast buffet which was the best breakfast we had in all of Guatemala(try fresh watermelon juice with cilantro). The staff were friendly and accomodating(the dining room waitress we had the morning before stopped by just to say hello) and I really liked the fact that the business office with printers and modern computers was open till 11pm so I could check my email(unlike some hotels who close the doors at 5pm). Wi-Fi is available for a reasonable charge which makes that notebook or netbook come in handy. Hotel Barcelo looks grand with a large winding staircase and marble floors. Sadly when it was time to go the Hotel provided free transportation to Guatemala International Airport on the hour.

The conceirge staff was great. The customer service can not be beat. Housekeeping would do anything for me. They made a difficult situation much easier. The food is good. I would go back. It is my second home. I miss everyone at the hotel. I hope that the Barcelo keeps the Marriott staff and improves the decor of rooms.

I stayed here approximately 3 weeks for business and I can say without a doubt this hotel has the best service I have experienced through my travels domestic and abroad. From the moment I arrived to my last day, the warmth, professionalism and sincerity of the service here was very impressive. After 3 weeks I met a lot of them and each person I interacted with was extremely helpful and courteous. Not one hint of attitude or non-professionalism. I think there is something to be said here about Guatemalans in general on their kind nature.

this hotel is awsome its so good it is cravy good it makes me want to cry i almost was to good i ate the best food ever i mean it was so good i over ate and the service was very good.

From the time we entered the Marriott, everything was absolutely perfect! The service was exemplary, the cleanliness was terrific, we couldn't think of a single thing to complain about! It really made us feel at home! They took care of all of our needs immediately. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

My wife and I stayed at the G.C. Marriott for the adoption finalization of our son. It was an extremely nice hotel with a very warm and welcoming staff. The restaraunts were very nice with very good food, and their staffs were all very friendly and helpfull if we had any questions.

I've stayed here several times and am most impressed by the service. The food was excellent and there was a good variety from which to choose. Most everything I needed to do was located in Zona 10, the same as the Marriott. I look forward to staying with them again.

We loved this hotel. We took our 9 yr old., the pool was wonderful. At the pool area there is a neat lunch counter over looking the pool where we got ice cream. Rooms were nice. Great service. Beautiful.
