As soon as you bite into an over-sized slice of Romano’s pizza, you’re transported directly to New York. In each slice, the crust crunches just slightly before giving way to the not-too-much, not-too-sweet tomato sauce, melted cheese and Italian sausage. Don’t bypass the pastas which usually come with salad and garlic bread. A favorite is their signature Pasta Romano—ziti in a light wine sauce loaded with chicken, garlic, tomatoes and feta. It's hard to find good NY-style pizza as well as inexpensive, tasty Italian in Houston, but this place is the real thing. It definitely helps that the owner is from Queens.
