You might expect to see Fonzie, Richie and the rest of the gang from "Happy Days" hanging out at this Valley standby. It certainly looks the part. Lots of red booths, retro styling and memorabilia give diners the feeling that they've been transported back in time. No, you can't actually drive up and expect car-hop service at Mel's, but you can order some of the best milkshakes, fries, burgers and lots of other classic diner fare here. Families love this place; it's a great spot for children's birthday parties too. Breakfast is served starting at 6a. This is also a great spot for late-night dining; it's open until 1a during the week and until 3a on weekends. An additional location has recently opened on the Sunset Strip near Sunset Plaza.
