The filled butcher's case in the doorway proudly illustrates what draws people to this Murray Hill restaurant-lots of meat. Inside Les Halles, sophisticated patrons (including many Europeans) are served top-notch steak, poultry and seafood by an attentive wait staff. Although the typical art deco bistro decor is pleasant, quarters are cramped and the noise level can be insufferable. Hanger steak is a specialty, and their crème brulee is to die for. The kitchen is run by Anthony Bourdain, who has made a name for himself by writing the bestseller Kitchen Confidential.
