awful sesame chicken
i guess i ordered the wrong dish at this place, because my food was awful. The sesame chicken sauce tasted like ketchup, and the chicken was soggy and hockey-puck hard. ICK! at least it wasn't that expensive. I'm not very picky and I'll eat almost anything, but this place was bad.

Worst place in Harvard Sq
Easily the worst bar there is in Harvard Sq. The managers/people who run the place, i.e. (the big fat ugly manager) are rude and arrogant and kick the only people out who are actually having fun. They also enjoy picking on women and send their big scary henchmen bouncers out to scare women patrons on the street but if you yell back you'll be fine. I highly recommend never going there for several reasons, the service/servers, drinks are way over priced, music could be a lot better and lastly they intimidate women (or try to at least) Lots of better places to go in Harvard Sq.

Quick take out
I got good quantity for the money, and most everything was very good, and arrived hot! I had a special need, and they had no problam taking care of it for me. I am handicapped, so visiting the Hong Kong in Cambridge is difficult for me because there isn't any easy parking, and the bathrooms are down a flight of stairs, but the food is good.

Not impressed
I heard about this place on Phantom Gourmet. On a wintery January night my husband and I went to check it out. The restaurant was freezing inside. They sat us all the way in the back and it was weird because they were not even crowded. The food was ok. Not the best, not the worst. I ordered wonton soup and he got chicken noodle. Both came in the same exact broth. Clearly, didn't have much flavor either. The pu pu platter was large but rather tasteless. The two good things about this place is: drinks (they make them very strong) and price (so cheap). We went upstairs for the comedy show and it was different. It was funny (sometimes). But I was disappointed to find out that they do not make any Asian style drinks (I wanted a Zombie) up there. Except for a Scorpion Bowl. If you really want to check this place out, skip the restaurant, go catch the comedy show and order your food up there.

pretty good
For only $6, we totally can't complain...but the comedy was only average. The MC was pretty hilarious, and so were one or two of the comedians, but a few were a bit strange. The Hong Kong definitely earns the title of "most experimental comedy club in the Boston area". Good for under-agers.

New Year's Eve
My family ordered chinese food on New Year's Eve 2007 and it we had an order of spareribs and scallion pancakes - they were the worse spareribs we ever received with from a chinese restaurant. Also the scallion pancake tasted rubbery and it had to be made by someone who does not know how to cook. I called to complain about both the spareribs and scallion pancake and the woman who answered was rude. I would never recommend for anyone to take out food from the Hong Kong in Harvard Square.

Better luck elsewhere
I haven't had the food - just been upstairs to the bar, where there are a lot of college kids. The music is good and the bar staff is friendly enough (for the most part,) but we got some rude treatment by them or their friends as we were leaving one night, which left a bad taste. It's an okay bar experience, but I think an intrepid group can do better trying other places. (BTW - I haven't had this experience at the Boston location.)

Scorpion Bowls
If you order scorpion bowls make sure to ask for extra shots so you can fall out of the cab and throw up on your friends floor.
