Overview

The menu includes all the classic dishes of vegetarian cuisine from main courses to soups, puddings, stewed seitan and tofu. The homemade desserts are very good. Beverages vary from organic wines, ciders, tisanes, and organic beers. The atmosphere is friendly and informal. There is no table service and the food is directly ordered from the kitchen, which you then collect on a tray. Apart from the inside rooms, there is a small tree-lined courtyard where you can eat outside in the summer.

      The food was overcooked, tired, tepid, and unimaginative. This place is like veggie restaurants use to be like in Britain about 40 years ago. The mushroom risotto was the worst I have ever had, - dry, bland, short on mushrooms, and almost completely cold, served on a cold plate(in February!). The salad bar was truly awful, with tired green leaves, and really horrible cold cooked (overcooked) vegetables. The service was of the old fashioned kind where you have to queue twice, once to order and pay, and then again at the food counter, and the furniture was uncomfortable. If you want good vegetarian food in FLorence, then take my advice, and go to a good trattoria, and order a mushroom risotto or pasta and beans etc.

      This is a great little vegetarian place in Florence - off the beaten trail. Very good italian vegi cuisine served cafeteria style. If you are vegetarian or appreciate good vegetarian food, try Il Vegetariano.
