Overview
Often referred to as the state's oldest art museum, this facility has been in existence since 1892. Modern Art Museum now houses more than 2,800 sculptures, paintings, prints, photographs and other artworks created since World War II. The collection includes pieces by luminaries such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol. Tours are open to the public every Saturday at 2p. The gift shop offers books, magazines, posters and other artistic memorabilia as well as educational toys. The museum hosts various art classes for patrons of all ages throughout the year.If not for the architecture of this building alone, this is a must see! It is a very interesting layout. If you like modern art, the recent show was so fascinating and impressive! Worth the drive, but give yourself time. They close early and then you don't have enough time to visit the Kimbell, which I've heard is also worth the trip if you like masterworks.
This musuem is truly a modern art museum. The architectural lay out and construction is so appealing. The permanent collection is worth seeing. Exhibits change fairly often, so check the website for showing. If you love museums and art, this is a must see while in Fort Worth. Yes, Cowboy love Art too!
This museum is in a campus with two other art museums, all excellent quality. Building itself is a marvel as noted by previous reviewer. Staff very friendly to middle-aged business traveler visiting alone (me) - very much appreciated. The trompe l'oeil paintings are worth the visit by themselves.
This building is one of the most amazing architectural feats I have ever seen. The art galleries inside and the building itself really do great justice for each other. If you go to Fort Worth, a trip here is a MUST!
