Overview
The Fukuoka Dome resembles something from a futuristic movie set, having been the first retractable-roof stadium in Japan. Now it is home to the Daiei Hawks professional baseball team. Hot dogs and beer are de rigueur inside, but outside, an extensive complex of fast-food and other restaurants have been built. Wise Fukuokans tend to avoid driving through the area on game days. The Dome is particularly impressive at the end of the day when the setting sun reflecting off the roof's metallic surface adds a touch of magic to the Momochi district. At night once I travelled on the highway, our car went across this dome. It was really very beautiful at night. The Fukuoka Tower is just a few distance from there. This is my great experience.
i dont remember clearly about the dome, except that its huge, but i do remember there's a hard rock cafe nearby..great for getting a hard rock t-shirt for those t-shirts enthusiastists...
A Fukuoka Hawk's baseball game is not to be missed if you happen to be in the area. The dome, the mascots, the field, and the staff in their colorful uniforms are all a feast for the senses. The fans are energetic and fun if boreline fanatical. Even young children are dressed in full Hawk's regalia. The games are more fast-paced than MLB and therefore much more fun to watch even for non-baseball fans (like me.)
If you like baseball, stop by the Fukuoka Dome & watch the Hawks play. They have a lot of really loyal & energetic fans. It is fun to watch.
