Clean, good location, European styleby Yahoo | 2007-06-08 15:15:15 |

I've stayed at several hotels in Geneva while on business, and I found this hotel to have some very positive points. 1) It is a central location for getting around the city (close to the train and buses). 2) The hotel is clean. 3) The staff is efficient and responds to requests quickly. This is not a resort! It is located near the train station and near a diverse mix of immigrant stores and restaurants. You're not going to feel inclined to lounge around in the hotel. Still, if you're going to Geneva and plan to spend most of your time actually in the city doing things, this is a good place to stay.

Horrible and Depressing Locationby Yahoo | 2007-01-01 15:12:04 |

The worse thing about the Manotels are the locations. They buy buildings in bad locations (mostly immigrant neighborhoods near the train station...not that there is anything wrong with imigrants) where the buildings around are grey and falling apart and it does not feel safe and turn them into 4 star hotels to make money. The staff was not friendly (snobby Algerian woman who speaks French) and the lobby smelled like smoke. We had to wait in a 30 minute line to check in even though there were only 3 people in line. That is because there was only 1 person at the concierge (and that was for every day). We had to ask for 3 different rooms before we found one that didn't reak of cigarettes. In the website, they hire some brilliant photographer which makes everything look hip and new and filled with sun. The reality when you see it in person is cheezy, dingy, and depressing. I would never stay at this chain again! The worse thing is that they deceive you into thinking that it's a hip 4 star hotel when really it has the passion and attentiveness of a Best Western, and some ornamented flimsy curtains.
