Step into the multi-storey darkness of The Cathouse and watch it live up to its reputation as the city's ruling gothic palace. Thursday until Sundays involves a lot of long-haired moshers with body piercings and tattoos jumping around to hard rock, metal and indie's best, while on Wednesday there's a gentler mix of disco and funk. It's popular with students and many die-hard faithfuls who are always in before 11p to take advantage of the discounted entry fee. The dress code is fairly predictable - lose the healthy glow and wear lots of black.
