Good for Gov't travelerby Yahoo | 2009-10-23 16:22:35 |

They accommodated my request to honor gov't rate and do provide breakfast M-F and a light dinner M-Th. They didn't get breakfast out one morning so far (the guy just did a no-show) and one night the dinner was hot dogs and chili. Still good overall. The pool was clean, but too cold to use, and the hot tub was way too hot and the light bulb burned my leg-advised them about those issues...but no response or cure. The bulb is obviously not meant for hot tubs as pool bulbs should not burn you. $1 beer and wine a bit of a dissapointment (other HS are free) but that's due to VA law not allowing for free alcohol...so I'll give them that. I will be returning for sure, but I hope they address the pool tempurature...it was simply intolerable by at least 10 degrees too cold, and hot tub by at least 5 degrees too hot...could not stay in it even after trying to get used to it. Nice I didn't see any kids, but nowhere near a sociable spot to go in the evening. The gym was acceptable as well, though the incline wasn't working on one of them, they did have TV's on them. TV's in rooms were 46" sony flat panels...dated but acceptable and nice sized. Rooms were very nice, clean and had a full fridge and dishes. Only downer was the maid kept forgetting to replenish coffee and stuff like that, and the coffee maker was broken. They did fix it.

The staff at this hotel were fabulous. They made great efforts to make us comfortable. Every person we interacted with was so helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were delicious and the rooms were devine. The pool /hottub area as well as fitness area were great as well...very clean and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would give it high recommendations.

Beutiful and charming. Great accomodations for les U$ 150... I believe Casa Santo Domingo has a great job in introducing the concpeto of museum hotel. All rooms and different areas of the hotel take us back to Guatemalas colonial years. The service is excelent and workers always willing to help

Enchanting!by Yahoo | 2007-05-28 19:18:24 |

My daughter and her fiance discovered CSD two years ago and decided to have their wedding there. What a wonderful choice! Absolutely enchanting spot! Antiquitites, floral arrangements and history everyone one turns. I would go back to CSD in a heartbeat. The staff was excellent without seeming obsequious... the food was gourmet... the rooms fabulous with all the amenities. At night, the hallways, walkways and dining areas are lit by votive candles... hundreds of them... the wedding proceeded without a hitch and all 138 guests had a memorable time. The town of Antigua is a great place to explore for its shops, museums and restaurants.

Experience of a lifetime!by Yahoo | 2007-04-17 16:55:27 |

My daughter was married there 4/14/07 and it was the most special occasion I've every witnessed. Spectacular! The old world charm, the antiquities, the omnipresent candles, the flora, the staff, the exquisitly appointed rooms, the culinary displays, the ambiance.... all added up to a dream wedding... all our guests had such a wonderful time.. one guest mentioned that this wedding had raised the bar to challanging heights! No one wanted to leave! I will be back.

Like you would never believeby Yahoo | 2007-02-08 23:00:00 |

The Santo Domingo Hotel in Antigua is not only like going back in time, but also like landing in a time of grandios and sprawl. I had never been to Guatemala before and was apprehensive about be drug along by my girlfriend on this trip. By the end of two weeks, I loved all of Guatemala more than she did. We watched a wedding in the cathedral area of this old monestary on a Friday night of two of the most wealthy families in all of Central America. It was the most lavish and extreme wedding I have ever seen. There were over 10,000 white candles lit and placed throughout the grounds. You should never pass this place up if you have a chance to go here.
