My wife and I decided to check out Pier 21 and we were both beyond disappointed with this historic site. We paid $8.50 each to get in, plus parking. We were expecting something much better. We paid, went upstairs and were completely disappointed. We also didn't want to sit for half an hour and watch a movie about pier 21. If your not looking for someone (a name) that came on a ship many years ago to pier 21, then believe me, do not waste your money and just go to the Halifax Marine Museum.

Halifax doesnt have many attractions and as such one must review based on other attractions within the city rather then in other cities. With that in mind the images shown in the gallery were all well done as was the train setup for watching videos. This attraction ranks at the top compared to other attractions in halifax and does an excellent job of depicting and providing imagery of what the immigration period was like.

Much of the history of my early childhood was captured in this very good "museum" so I was very interested in the photos, mementos and other displays. An excellent audio-visual experience too. Much to think about and so many personal stories, both good and bad. The inhumanity of the system was not forgotten. A real credit to Canada's view of its own past,warts and all

Pier 21 was one of the main attractions we came to Halifax to see and it did not disappoint. It was a great learning experience for my husband and I. We were able to put outselves in our parents shoes to feel what they felt when immigrating to Canada and seeing it for the first time. There are a number of excellent interactive displays and we especially enjoyed the first hand accounts throughout the museum and on the "train ride". The 4D movie was also excellent. There are plenty of opportunities to share one's own experiences as well. I think it would be great to also offer information on immigrants who came through Quebec City as I do not beleive a museum like this exists there. The kid friendly exhibits such as were appreciated although not all were in working order. The website could also be improved as it is a little confusing. Overall, an excellent experience.

I liked the fact that they actually took the lead from Ellis Island and have finally established the Pier in accordance with her historical immigrant status. While they have got a long way to go in bringing this attraction up to world class standards--one senses that they are on their merry way. The attraction needs more exhibits and a database for public access.
