Overview

Close to all major downtown hotels and five seconds away from the World Trade and Convention Center, the 5 Fishermen Restaurant has several seafood specialties that set it apart. They also do chicken and steaks and feature some excellent desserts like Maple Berries and Blueberry and Marscarpone Tian. The nautical setting, with its painted carvings of fishermen, lots of brick walls adorned with lobster traps and a fireplace, is cozy and welcoming. This place has one of the largest wine cellars in the city.

Open Hours

I had the worst fish dish in my lifeby Yahoo | 2007-08-28 02:05:36 |

It is our first visit to maritime provinces. We expect to taste fresh and tender seafood in Halifax, the most prosperous city in the provinces. The ambience of the restaurant is of British style. High ceiling, big crest on wall, candle on table. It is a nice place to dine. We had soup chowder of seafood and dishes of fish, one was halibut. The soup had several types of seafood, salmon, scallop and other fish. The ingrediens were delicious. But the soup was extremely salty. After drinking a few spoons, my throat burned. The halibut dish was the worst seafood I have ever had. The fist had no taste, the texture was roarse. You would feel chewing a piece of soft wood. If the cook could not turn the fish into a delicious dish, the restaurant should not have that fish in menu. The cost of a dish in Five Fishermen is about CD36 or more. In PEI, I had a lobster lunch at CE 14. A large loster of some 1.5 lb. It was fresh and you could get sweet taste of the lobster.

Excellent!!! The type of restaurant that Halifax is famous for!by Yahoo | 2007-07-12 22:05:41 |

One of the best in Halifax!! Well run and great food and service!!The wine list was good and our waiter (Daniel was very knowledgeable) A great place to impress a client or a date.

          Not worth the moneyby Yahoo | 2007-03-27 22:51:00 |

The food is not worth the money you pay for it, I mean how much does the mussle bar really cost? Sorry but there's better places to eat!

          Worth the money?by Yahoo | 2006-11-24 20:18:56 |

They have made themselves one of the priciest restaurants in Halifax for no reason that I can see; I feel that you are paying top dollar for average food. There are absolutely higher caliber restaurants for more reasonable price in Halifax. One year ago I would always recommend this restaurant first but now it would be about #10 on my list of places to eat in Halifax.

          We're returning!!!by Yahoo | 2006-05-21 04:44:59 |

My husband and I went with our son to Little Fish a couple of years ago and we absolutely loved it. The service was great, the food exceptional (the muscles are to die for), and the atmosphere was great for a family. We're returning soon to Nova Scotia and one of the first places we are going is to Five Fishermen and Little Fish.

          Little Fish was greatby Yahoo | 2005-08-23 23:35:17 |

We'd heard about the great food at the 5 Fisherman but because we had our young son with us we opted for the more casual Little Fish. We had the best meal of our vacation there and would highly recommend it. The food was excellent and the staff were super friendly, going out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Great place !

          Best I've Hadby Yahoo | 2005-06-09 20:05:44 |

The food, from the salad and mussels bar, main dishes and desserts were superb. The wine and beer list excellent.

          Superb culinary experience!by Yahoo | 2005-01-10 20:57:35 |

I came from Victoria, BC to your restaurant recommended by a friend from Toronto who dined there before. We loved it! It was a memorable occasion. Thank you so much for a fabulous evening, it was outstanding. Olga
