Overview
Point Pleasant Park offers a sight of squirrels, blue jays, woodpeckers and a good 185 acres to explore. Although it is located a few minutes from downtown, it feels like being in the country. You can walk by the water or through the forest; there are a variety of paths. Bring a picnic lunch or barbecue a few hotdogs; the park has pits for cooking and plenty of tables. Spend a relaxing day exploring the old forts, watching for seals or mingling with the dog walkers and joggers.
Open Hours

Forest walks, ocean views, close to downtownNature retreat right in the city.
What a surprise to find a park like this so close to the city's downtown. We heard a lot about the park after Halifax was hit by the hurricane, so on a recent trip we decided to have a look for ourselves. The forest must have been lovely with all old trees, but we found it beautiful with lots of wildflowers and beautiful views of the ocean. Wide park roads made walking easy, although some of the steep hills were a bit of a surprise! Plan on a couple hours of discovery in the park.
I like Point Pleasant Park because it's right in the city. It's a great place to escape when you don't have the time to drive for hours. A nice place to walk and take in nature. It's open to everyone, and best of all it's free!
