Overview

Built in the centrally located Vedado district in 1958, the hotel passed through the revolution relatively unscathed, apart from a change of name. The outer facade has since received a face-lift, and has lost some of its former charm according to those who remember its original appearance. However, an outstanding mosaic wall, designed by Amelia Peláez, did survive the alterations. There are marvelous views of Havana, and the establishment is often venue to exhibitions of Cuban art. The hotel has a busy atmosphere, albeit somewhat impersonal.
