Overview

Probably Cuba's most traditional and well-known marina, it offers fishing enthusiasts all types of possibilities. There is a weather report service available, boat repairs, electricity, specially designed anti-cyclone waterways, and a full accommodation infrastructure. Those arriving by yacht do not need to make reservations, but should call in on VHF 17 or 72 prior to arrival. This is also the scene of the world famous Ernest Hemingway fishing tournament that is free to spectators.

Had an absolute wonderful time in Havana. Attended a fishing tournament with five friends. Cuban Customs were no hassle at all. Providing beverages versus cash is my recommendation. Locals are very friendly. Traveled to downtown Havana when we were not fishing. The town is a throwback from the late fifties. Cuban cigars where out of this world. US Customs were not that bad from Key West. Don't be greedy with Cuban goods. Couple of cigars, not a big deal. Just put them in your bags along with some underwear, they won't look. The rest of our stories will stay in beautiful Cuba. ENJOY!!

An average stayby Yahoo | 2005-02-21 20:41:39 |

The hotel itself was passable. Clean and comfortable and not too noisy. However its location ispoor if you want to spend a lot of time in Havana itself as it is too far out to walk, and the shuttlebuses (although free) are not very frequent. All in all, this was fine for a two night stay, as we did, but I would not have wanted to stay any longer.
