Overview

The Antarctic Division co-ordinates the supplies for every expedition and every experiment that is conducted on an Australian Antarctic research expedition. The Antarctic is the coldest, driest, highest and windiest place on earth and is a formidable place to live and work. Visitors can see exhibits exploring the history and contemporary use of the Antarctic as a research base and examine some terrific photographs and interesting models in the museum and library. A 40-minute film can be shown to groups who book in advance.

The static and interactive displays really give you insight into what scientific research takes place in Antarctica. There are beautiful photographs to view and you can even crawl inside a tent or try on some of the clothing you would have to wear on a visit to this part of the earth. The site was recommended during our travels and we are gald we stopped in. There was no cost involved.
