Overview

Once called the Empire, the Republic Bar & Cafe has been reborn to reflect a changing social climate. It is pub, cafe and performing space. As one of Hobart's remaining deco buildings, there is a distinct bohemian feel. Different spaces have different seating, and there is a small beer garden. Live music, performance poetry and community forums are all part of the Republic calendar. A blackboard offers the choice of food for the day and can include a laksa or a Lebanese platter. Order at the bar. The pub is open till late each night.
