Overview

Also known as "Women's Street" because it used to sell goods only for women, Tung Choi Street is similar to Temple Street Night Market, except that it starts its trading day at noon. In addition to the street stalls, which sell anything from furiously beeping alarm clocks and glittering faux designer watches to unisex clothes and CDs, there are also lots of small shops that sell all sorts of other stuff. The market is generally quite crowded, and a bit of pushing is just as expected as haggling over prices.

Went early in November & am returning last of Marchby Yahoo | 2007-12-08 22:01:03 |

I loved this market. Wonderful selection of knockoff handbags and watches; these items make great gifts. In general the personnel in the stalls were pleasant. One watch that I bought was not working the next day and the girl who sold it to me replaced it. I am really going to load up when I return.

Had enough of the marketplace to last a lifetime!by Yahoo | 2005-02-03 03:45:42 |

I love shopping in Hong Kong. However, just getting back from a 4 day holiday, I must say that this time the shopping was not quite as enjoyable. Much because of pushy salesladies at the Ladies' Market. They are all trying to make a sale so once you poke your head in their curtain stall to just "take a look" they are around you and pushy and desperate for you to buy. I think I would have purchased more merchandise if I would have been just left alone. It made me uncomfotable to be pushed just for looking. Also, the crowds on the weekends at that market is a mob scene. People are very pushy and not friendly or courteous. Now that I have been there again I think I have had my fill for my lifetime! The night market is better for not being pushy. Just watch out for the vendors that sell music CD's. They are not the artist/singer that appear on the cover. I purchased 2 CD's. One "Carpenters' greatest Hits" and Best of Lobo. Carpenters are not sung by Karen Carpenter but the CD cover shows Richard and Karen. Lobo was ok but not every song is done by him either. I say, go to walmart or K-Mart when you return to the United States and buy it there! Music CD's are a rip off...buyers, beware!!

Not bad...by Yahoo | 2004-12-19 08:51:38 |

Ladies Market was only mediocre to me because it was so crowded when I was there and people were just shoving others around. The goods sold were repeated a couple of times thus it was a little boring. However, the food stalls nearby were not bad :) Well, if one has never been to a night market, perhaps I will recommend that person to go there.

It is worth a lookby Yahoo | 2004-12-18 12:28:51 |

The overall shopping experience in Hong Kong was exceptional, alot of variety. Stanley Markets and Pacific Place on HK island especially. However, the ladies markets at Mongkok was a little different. Very annoying and pushy sales ladies deterred me from buying. There was alot of things repeated in every store.
