Take my advice, go upstairs to the Hula Grill instead. It's not so crowded and you can still enjoy the live music from Duke's downstairs.
Find out when they have the breakfast buffet, it is worth the money if you are hungry. You sit there on the patio looking at the ocean and you know you have arrived in Hawaii. Best bacon ever. If you want to have a good first day in Hawaii then go for an early morning swim in Waikiki before the crowds arrive, maybe 9am. Then eat beakfast at Dukes, and hang out on the beach for an hour or two before getting a noon massage at Abhasa spa. You'll be spending money, but you can do things cheaply in the days to come. Indulge yourself on the first day. We did this and it was the best day ever.
There's nothing like reading the local paper, listening to the ocean, the sounds of Hawaiian music wafting overhead, sipping Kona coffee and enjoying the best breakfast buffet around....looking at Diamondhead. Get there early enough and you might see whales breaching...save room for the Hula Pie. Lunch buffet is good also, just a little less varied.
We loved the food here! The fish is outstanding, the service was terrific. Be prepared to wait for a table though, and it's not cheap...however, it was totally worth the wait and the prices. Yummy!
They tried to sit us inside the restaurant but we asked to sit on the porch right on the beach. Much funner. We had looked at the menu posted outside and then again inside. It looked alright. We went in and the girl said we still have our lunch buffett until 3:30 p.m. for $11.95. What a pleasant surprise. No mention of that anywhere on the menu that we saw. Huge salad bar with the buffett and delicious Mahi Mahi. Well worth going for the lunch buffet. Every one around us had ordered this huge platter of waffle fries. Hope this helps:)
The view from the restaurant was beautiful, the service was very kind, and the drinks, What can I say, It was Hawaii!! The food was superb, especially the fish. The portions were more than enough. For a first experience, I cant express how good the food and the people were!! Thanks!!
Great for hanging out and enjoying the sunset!
Went there for Christmas Dinner. The food was excellent. Somewhat pricey, but worth it. There was something for everyone in our group ages 5 to 64. The Hula Pie was big enough for everyone to share.
