Overview

Hula dancers greet each sunset sailor as passengers depart on the largest of the local cruise ships, The Star of Honolulu. Visitors cruise off Oahu's leeward shore as the sun sinks below the horizon and the twinkling lights of Honolulu and Waikiki emerge in the dusk. There is always a live band and singers. Dine on a feast of steak and crab legs with a complimentary tropical cocktail. Prices for The Sunset Dinner cruise start at USD66 for adults and USD33 for children.

Really Funby Yahoo | 2008-12-07 21:36:54 |

When Neil Mangoba was a manager, he ran the place so as to give everyone a great experience....there were smiles and great service....not so much now.

Rip Offby Yahoo | 2008-10-11 18:09:08 |

We took what we thougth was going to be an elegant dinner cruise - it was not. The lobster looked closer to a cray fish and overcooked at that and the filet of beef was the size of a very small hamburger and tasted more like meat loaf. The service was just ok and the entertainment was fine. For the price of $300 for two - (we paid extra for window seats only to be swamped by people walking along the side of ship and spoiling our view) we felt it was an extremely expensive dinner and definitely not worth the price. Save the $$ and if you want to see Waikiki at sunset there has to be a better cruise for less money. The Star of Honolulu is not it.

Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise - waste of Money!by Yahoo | 2008-08-15 02:39:23 |

We were very disappointed with our dinner cruise. We did the 5 star cruise and left hungry. The entertainment and food were both. We were rushed the entire time. The boat left at 6:00 and returned to the dock by 7:30. We also talked with other couples that paid less and sat on a lower level. They were also very disappointed with their experience. Please do not waste your money and time.

An Alright dinner cruiseby Yahoo | 2008-03-20 02:15:06 |

So my husband and I went on this dinner cruise for our 2 year anniversary. We ate the steak and all you can east crab legs. I have to admit the steak wasnt very good (it was cold and bloody), the crab legs were tiny and the best part of the dinner was the salad and rolls! The view of the sunset was spectacular though. Our other complaint was all the Japanese tourists and one particular screaming child that sat right next to us. We did have a table to ourselves which was nice but we were VERY close to the couple at the table next to us, which didnt feel very private. They really crowd this boat with people, especially on the weekends. Go during the week and its less crowded....

Great relaxingby Yahoo | 2008-02-17 20:07:45 |

For the price it is graet. Dont expect a 5 star cruise. It is a day cruise just as it states. My family had a great time, seen whales and just relaxed off the water. Drinks are 6 buks each for alchol, 3 buck for juice or soft drinks. Overall great time, just don't be picky and have a open mind.

The Best Dinner Cruiseby Yahoo | 2008-01-28 04:34:31 |

Overall i liked everything. The food was good, the entertainment was excellent and I would go back in a heart beat. This was the BEST dinner cruise I've been on.

Save Your Money and Find a Good Restuarantby Yahoo | 2008-01-19 20:05:20 |

First of all the advertisement for this cruise is not what you think it will be! Have you ever gone somewhere and felt like you made a mistake when you go there! This is it! First, when I booked this for my wife and I in Sept. 2006 we were told the dress attire was well dressed and no blue jeans. Second of all they advertise they sail around Diamond Head, never go near it! We purchased the second most expensive package and our meal was steak and lobster. We arrived and boarded the ship and were seated close enough I could have played elbows with the lady next to me. We saw a number of young Japanses people wearing blue jeans and short sleeve shirt. The wife and I felt we were almost over dressed. For $100 per person the meal was "HORRIBLE" The lobster was cold and over cooked and can't say much more for the steak. The intertainment was okay but very loud. When we arrived back home I called our travel agent and complained about what we had paid for. She gave me a web site and I filled a complaint. " NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE" Save your money a $100 per person will find you the best dinner on the mainland.

great experienceby Yahoo | 2007-12-21 23:33:22 |

went on the 12/20/07 sunset cruise. i got the one star package for me and my s.o. lady luck was on our side because it was really clear, despite having a really wet and cloudy december. and the sunset was amazing. also, it was a slow night. not much guests which allowed us to have our own table. the entertainment was real good. but they could have turned the volume down a bit. the crab and steak wasnt bad. not top choice, but still good. even though my s.o. got sea sick, the night was enjoyable.

Look for a different place where they really take care of you!by Yahoo | 2007-10-28 22:48:40 |

We were there on 6/10/07 we were so excited as this was our 1st Hawaiian night experience. 1st as we were greeted they sent us to the 2nd deck, then once up there they told us we were not suppose to be there, that we were suppose to be on the 1st deck, we went downstairs again and they told us no you are suppose to be on the 2nd deck. I was like you know can we just please be seated. Once we were sitted, we literally had to wait 45 minutes for someone to come to our table (we had even pulled out of port by now)they brough bread and apetizers and saldas which were good. Still after eating the bread and apetizers we were still waiting for our drinks!! we got our salads 20 min later and after we were done with the salads we finally got our drinks. It was pretty sad how they greeted and took care of people that got there after us. Honestly, I would've got up and go somewhere else, not like if I could do it in the middle of the ocean. We were traped already. Main dish was good, drink was good. Service was TERRIBLE!!! Once we got home from our vacation I emailed them to let them know how disapointed we were. Their response was "I'm sorry you had a bad experience, we will look more into it" that's it. Next time we will really try a different cruise. Not like if there are not other options to chose from.
