The Wal-Mart of the sprits world, I will admit that Spec's downtown has a huge selection of products especially on wines. But it lacks helpful people I'm not an expert on sprits but I do know a thing or two and when I was trying to get a question answered by one of there employees they didn’t know the answer or could not give me a way to mix a particular drink. Not to mention that they seem to pride themselves on having the cheapest prices which is also not true. On major brands like Crown & Jack they do but you have to pay cash to get the 5% off. I guess that’s how they get you to think that there so cheap. I went to a local Fiesta Beverage Mart and got better service from the staff and also noticed that they were cheaper and I did not have to pay cash since they have the same price for cash or credit. If I need to get wine Specs would probably be my first choice but for service and good prices on sprits I noticed I am better of at Fiesta. Not to mention that Spec's staff kept on trying to force me to switch my sprit of choice to some brand that I had never heard of and told me that it was made by the same company but made only for them. (I guess there generic brand) I tell you one thing ill stick with what I drink not some generic brand.

I was in the 24 Greenway plaza building and came across this art gallery called Sculptures by design. I walked in with the idea that I didnt know anything about art, let alone collecting. The man there help me find something suiting for me. I cant belive I spent as much as i did, but it was well worth it! All my house guest rave over me art now that I have gone back to collect more. Thank you so much Sculptures by Design!!!

I went to the newer Specs off of Bay Area Blvd.and it happened that there were two vendors offering tastings. One had several italian wines and a Calvados that was excellant. She told me it was made from Apples and this one happended to come from Canada. I went into the store last week expecting to find the same bottle. The store help thought I was nuts and didn't even remember the vendor. They handed me something that looked right but it was darker in color. I purchased it for a whopping $36.50 and almost choked when I tasted it. Specs service in the Bay Area is horrible. What a waste.

This is a great place to visit and shop but give yourself a lot of time. The quality of the food is excellent and the deli sandwiches can't be beat. The service and helpful staff make this stop the highlight of our visits to Houston.

My boss bought me a $20 gift certificate for Christmas there and I lost it. They refused to make good on it because "Someone else may have found it and used it." Whatever happened to customer service?

If you are looking for liquor, wine, sixty year old port, cigars, caviar, Spec's is the place to go. Something of a wild scene around the holidays and it's absolutely huge.

The best liqour and cigar specialty store in Houston. This placre covers at least a city block! REALLY!! The Staff is very knowlegable in their craft! Bigger is better!
