Overview

Drive south on I-45 for about an hour and you will hit the Texas Gulf Coast. That is where you will find this beautiful garden entertainment complex in all its glory. Explore the rainforest pyramid, smell the exotic plants, and soar with the space exhibits. Moody Mansion & Museum will enthrall you with its grandeur. For additional entertainment, there is a large-screen IMAX theater, an ice rink, and a aquarium exhibit showcases animals from around the world. Aquarium admission, however, is separate from the gardens. There are also several restaurants to satisfy different tastes, with one overlooking the Gulf Bay.

way over pricedby Yahoo | 2008-08-30 22:12:49 |

Aquarium is just like any other. Ride film was a complete joke. The film was very outdated, shown on a noisy projector and anything worth seeing in the rain forset you can see from the outside. Dont waste your money. We spent $158 for a family of 5 and everyone left saying how boring it was. Employess are rude.

Too expensive, not enough to see.by Yahoo | 2008-08-03 16:02:26 |

First off, to get into all three attractions one must buy the day pass, which is $50. For $50 we were expecting a little more. The aquarium is nothing spactacular. They have one big tank, in the center and everything else around it. The rainforest was a HUGE disappointment. There were some birds, but overall it was hot and nothing really to see. For the exhibition pyramid, the Titanic articles where on display. They showed very good artifacts but it was just too crowded. The displays where too close together and you had to wait in line to read one display. The imax theater was the best part of the day. You can never go wrong with the Imax. The 4-D theather was fun, but too short, and so was the ridefilm. On top of all that, you can only go on once, you can't see more movies or shows unless you buy the more tickets which are too expensive to begin with. Our experience there was not worthwhile. I am not planning to waist money or gas there.

Nice but too much money for too little excitement.by Yahoo | 2008-07-24 02:40:52 |

Moody Gardens was nice and clean. Nothing spectacular though. At $50.00 per person I expected more for my money. We were only allowed to view each section once and wasn't really impressed with what I did see. The graphics on the ride film were not very good at all. The 4D movie was okay.. very relaxing.... I fell asleep. Titanic was okay, but not spectacular. Aquarium and rain forest were nice... not alot to them but nice. Overall it is a decent place to visit once... but not for the price. I don't believe I would go back and really wish I would have used the money to spend 2 days at Schlitterbahn's instead.

Three Nights at Moody 2008by Yahoo | 2008-06-18 12:04:28 |

Moody Gardens is very nice destination if you like a vacation home base and you're an early riser like me with a family that sleeps in. Morning coffee in lobby is great...attractions are very good. Don't recommend Titanic, not worth the extra $5 a head to get in. 3D movies at Imax are great, expecially for kids, other attractions such as aquarium, rain forest and man-made Palm beach are good. Buy the package, better deal and don't expect to go multiple times...once is enough. We drove a couple of miles and ate at What-a-burger for breakfast and saved a bundle. Did doughnuts the 2nd day on way to beach. Will come again, as we need a good destination from D/FW and this is very good. Getting around Galveston is easy, but given triangular vector of roads leading toward east, be sure and check a map as you'll get turned around when traveling back west from seawall. Very polite staff and strong family atmosphere....highly recommend for a couple of days max.

Don't waste your $$by Yahoo | 2008-06-03 15:58:32 |

We went to see the Titanic display, and it was a total waste of money. Very few interesting items displayed, & too crowded. Staff was not very friendly either. Please don't waste your money on viewing this display. You can see more on Discovery Channel. We would not eat there, and opted for a restraunt on the Seawall. Moody Gardens is way overpriced for what you get. We won't ever go back.

Not enough bang for your buckby Yahoo | 2008-05-07 16:21:59 |

I have stayed at this hotel many times based on the AA conferences that I attend. The hotel is lovely however it's too expensive. They don't give anything for all the money that you pay there. The massages are good but still not much bang for your buck. They are expensive summer or winter and that's not good.Rooms are very nice and so is everything else.

Nice and interestingby Yahoo | 2008-03-11 03:31:55 |

Moody Gardens is a nice place and somewhat unique. From an artificial rainforest to IMAX theaters it has an array of things to see. We viewed from the perspective of entertainment for a family with small kids. From that perspective its appeal was a bit limited. The 3D movies were neat. The kids found the rain forest pyramid interesting (personally I found the sales pitch of it being just like a real rainforest overrated). The aquarium was entertaining enough although I've seen several aquariums more impressive. The rest held very little interest for the kids. For what it offered to the family it was a tad pricey but not outrageous. Seemed like it actually has more too offer older adults looking for infotainment. Not saying you shouldn't take your kids but don't expect that it is a full day of entertainment for them.

Wouldn't mind going backby Yahoo | 2008-02-21 19:46:12 |

I loved the aquarium and the rain forest, you could really get up close and observe especially in the rain forest. It was an awesome experience.

It was the best!by Yahoo | 2008-02-01 17:20:22 |

There was nothing that i disliked about moody gardens. The prices were just right and it was worth every penny. It makes me want to go there every time i go to Galveston. Dont change a thing, it was perfect. The only fish that you didn't have at the time was the cuddle fish. But it was all good to start with. Keep up the good work!

Love it!by Yahoo | 2007-12-03 17:06:43 |

The last time I went, Moody Gardens was, for the most part, a great experience. In the summertime after 6:00, all of the attractions are half-priced. At least that's the way it was when we went last (which may have been 7 or 8 years ago now). We loved the rainforest and aquarium pyramids. The discovery pyramid was sadly lacking. I think when we went, it was fairly soon after it had first opened and most of the interactive things were broken. The best parts of Moody Gardens are: rainforest pyramid, aquarium pyramid, ride theater, and the IMAX theater. Of course, I haven't done the beach thing or the Paddlewheel boat. I think my favorite part is the aquarium pyramid though. Where else in the Houston/Galveston area can you see penguins?! (They wouldn't let me choose 2000, but I think that's when we went last.)
