Beneath the towering buildings of downtown, you will find numerous houses from various times in Texas history. There is a log cabin from the days before Texas was a republic, a house built during the early years of Texas' Independence and other homes from the 1800s and early 1900s. Hourly Heritage Society tours will take you through a museum, tearoom, the Yesteryear Shop and the Frontier Trading Gift Shop. The park itself is large, green and peaceful. The experience is like walking through a little slice of heaven in the middle of the downtown chaos. Busy downtowner's relax here whenever they get a chance.
