Overview

Near Wortham Center in downtown Houston, you will find this scenic park filled with walking trails and terraced gardens. All the paths wind down to Buffalo Bayou. Occasionally, you can see boats slipping along the smooth waters of the bayou as you walk along the promenade. The park is also the site of a massive metal sculpture of seven pillars that commemorate the Texas Sesquicentennial.

A Beautiful Oversite by Many!by Yahoo | 2007-04-22 22:49:36 |

I am a native houstonian who until recently did not know such a beautiful place existed. It's hard to believe that I live less than 10 mins from this park and never once noticed it was there. It started when my son and I decided to walk downtown instead of taking the bus or the light rail to take pictures for a school project - Flat Stanley. The park was on the corner of Preston and Smith and it was an amazing view. For Houston the weather was merciful, a cool sunny day with a gentle breeze and the grass was freshly mowed. With the George Bush monument on one side of the bayou and the Wortham center on the other, it was a perfect site for pictures with Flat Stanley.
