Overview
The monument to General Vara de Rey is probably the most popular one on the island. The statue of the General, who was born in Ibiza and died in the Cuban War, is an image often used on postcards and posters. It shows the General with his sword held high and two angels at his feet. The statue stands on the main street running through the center of Ibiza city, which bears the General's name, and it was unveiled by King Alfonso XIII in 1904. The plans for the statue were done by the Catalan architect August Font, and the statue was made by the sculptor Eduard B. Alentorn.Open Hours

Personally, i think that the monument is very nice - but, then i would - General Vara de Rey was my great, great, great, great grandfather. There's another statue near Atocha train station in Madrid. Both well worth a look.Away from the tourist areas Ibiza is a very pretty island and worth having a good look around.
