Won't be back!by Yahoo | 2009-07-25 22:58:00 |

I have stayed at this hotel for over 5 years on business. I made room reservations with a credit card and had my confirmation number for my stay. Upon arrival I was told I did not have a room they had given it to someone who wanted to extend their stay. They told me I could stay at the Cabot and they would provide me with a taxi if needed. After they saw I was not amused at their offer a manger decided he would give me a room (I don't know why I wasn't given this room in the first place). It appears the Southern Baptist convention was in town and they had given my original room to a extended stay guest. Three of my co-workers were not as lucky as I was. They were sent to the Cabot and had made reservations in advance as well. I will make my next Jackson reservation with another hotel chain in the future.

Not up to Marriott Standardsby Yahoo | 2008-06-13 17:38:23 |

I travel for a living as a meeting planner. I use large hotel facilities all over the country. This hotel is not a Marriott owned property and the service is no where near Marriott corporate standards anywhere in the building. I got the impression that as there was no real competition for them in the city, they were perfectly content to rest on on past laurels. Guest experience was definitely not their interest or priority. -When I called room service I got a "Yeah? What do you want." when they finally found someone to answer the phone. -When I asked for concierge recommendations for a car service back to the airport they said they didn't have any and to call a cab. -When I tried to drop off a fedex package for their shipping department (as I was leaving for the airport) they told me to call fedex myself or drop it off on the way to the airport. They didn't do shipping. -And they charge you a penalty to bring your own equipment to events as oppossed to using their in house AV dept. The hotel is also not in a good area of town and there are no restaurants in the area that a single traveler should feel safe venturing out blocks to find on foot. No shuttle service.

Not What I Expectedby Yahoo | 2008-04-13 01:23:30 |

The bedding was not cleaned. It looked as if housekeeping didn't change the bedding from the previous guest, but I can say that the housekeeping staff was very nice about changing the bedding and getting us some extra towels. The t.v. in the room did not show clearly. The wall sockets did not work. I had to try all of them to see which on worked. I was very unhappy about not having a fridge or a microwave in the room. I would not have expected this in a four star hotel.

Best Hotel In Jacksonby Yahoo | 2007-12-23 23:53:34 |

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The bellhop service is only the first pleasure you will recieve! They are efficient, friendly, and eager to make your stay enjoyable, plus they are around 24/7! Once you check in, which only takes about 5 minutes, you look around a realize that the hotel is beautiful! The lobby has a very cozy feel to it! Feel free to sit in ANY of the comfortable chairs and enjoy! The rooms are fantastic with the most comfortable beds you have ever experienced! You will fall asleep in minutes! Plus, with HBO and cable, you will always be entertained! If that doesn't sell you, feel free to open your floor-to-ceiling curtains and take in a fantastic view! Either you will experience a beautiful sunrise or a breathtaking sunset! The pool also provides you with a great view of the sunrise! The bathrooms are amazing and clean, which is a necessity! Also, if hosting an event, this is the PERFECT place to have it! The mezzanine boasts plenty of beautiful rooms to choose from and can be catered to suit your needs! If the party is small, a smaller room can be used, and if the party is large, most of the small rooms can be combined to form a large room! This is, without a doubt, the best place in Jackson!

loved itby Yahoo | 2007-07-02 16:22:12 |

the marriott downtown was beautiful and clean and we enjoyed our one night stay there. the restaurant downstairs was a little pricey, but otherwise we highly recommend it!

OVERBILLED AND CHARGED FOR AIR!by Yahoo | 2007-02-19 21:44:52 |

This place was not a good experience for me at all. They charge extra for everything! I have never been to a hotel where the fridge was not in the room, you had to pay extra for it.I only stayed one day and they billed me for two days on my credit card. They are willing to credit my account but it takes 10-14 days! You have to pay for parking!!This is jackson Mississippi where parking is free almost everywhere but here.No resturants,no downtown nightlife, nothing in walking distance thats exciting. This may be okay for a business trip but I was there for something else and it was not for me.

Good downtown hotelby Yahoo | 2006-04-25 21:20:55 |

The hotel was very reasonably priced. The location left a lot to be desired, as there really aren't many places to eat or visit in the immediate area. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, decent furniture, and small but decent bathrooms. The restaurant in the hotel is ok, but service is on the slow side. Overall it's a decent place to stay with friendly staff and clean facilities.

Not for Government Travelersby Yahoo | 2005-08-16 14:52:29 |

As a government traveler I usually stay in Mariott Hotels. However, in this instance when I asked if they had "the government rate" they responded that they did. However, it is not the GSA goverment rate. Its their own government rate! $19.00 higher than GSA's published rates. They charge for parking. They charge for Internet access. Dinner rate was a flat rate of 22.95 which consumes the three quarters allowed for meals on the first and last day of travel. I do not recommend this hotel for government travelers.

Great location, excellent staffby Yahoo | 2005-05-16 13:55:26 |

This hotel is at the heart of business Jackson. It's near the courthouse, state buildings. The staff is courteous, efficient and energetic. The beds are lovely. There is a small, but ample exercise room, an outdoor pool, a business room with three computers etc. Highly recommended!
