Overview
Opened in 1961, this museum and art education center has handsome gardens with fragrant blooms, and peaceful, winding walkways. The permanent collection at Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens focuses on the history of art with exhibits spanning the eras from ancient times to the 20th century. Temporary exhibits are also presented throughout the year. It is located off I-95, approximately five minutes from downtown.Open Hours
Tu from 10:00 AM to 09:00 PM, We to Fr from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM, Sa from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Su from 12:00 PM to 05:00 PMThe unique thing about the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is ... you know how when you go to botanical gardens, it's like plants, plants and more plants, which is beautiful and it's why you're there, but the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens also blends interesting history with the beautiful plants. And since the gardens have been there since the early 1900's they are very mature. It opened to the public in the early 60's but Mrs. Cummer had been gardening there since the early 1900's. The view of the arches with the ocean behind it is just beautiful. On the museum side of it there are beautiful paintings and porcelain. If you like porcelain and Japanese art you will love it! I collect napon china and I really loved the museum.
This gallery provides a steady change of lovely interesting and historical art, offers an art connection with hands on art classes for children and adults (some free), beautiful relaxing gardens, a gift shop, coffee shop and bistro...free for members and children under 5...free for all Tuesday 4-8. An experience available to all, even a senior lecture series! I just love it!!!
The artwork was amazing. The Garden is breathtaking. The children's area was entertaining and we don't even have children. This place is one of our favorite places in Jacksonville.
Some very nice works of art. Very neat and clean. Very nice childrens' area. A beautiful garden. This is definitely a jewel of the city of Jacksonville!
I liked this museum a lot. It was very interesting and it is something fun to do with the whole family.
