Overview
One of the world's tallest fountains, this spectacular piece of architecture is an impressive 200 feet in diameter and shoots water more than 120 feet into the air. At night, the colorful lighting turns the splashing waters into an animated, playful work of art. A lovely green space surrounds the fountain and comes complete with picnic tables and seating for relaxing and admiring the views of the St Johns River and city skyline. You will find the fountain next to the Museum of Science and History, on Museum Circle.
FRIENDSHIP FOUNTAIN IS BEAUTIFUL AND I AM GLAD THEY RESTORED IT, NEG COMMENTS SUCH AS JASONS ABOVE SHOULD BE IGNORED!JAX IS A BEAUTIFUL CITY AND THIS FOUNTAIN HAS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS AND YEARS. ITS BEAUTIFUL TO GO LOOK AT AND VISIT AREAS AROUND THE FOUNTAIN.
I miss the point, sorry..This is a fountain, you know - it shoots water. I've got a water gun that does that and I don't need to be bothered by the constant panhandlers. What could make this even better, is if the fountain spewed the bacteria riddled St. John's River water into the nice hot air.
i went to the landing with a friend and we took a boat ride around the river area. we stopped at the foutain and it was beautiful, and awesomw weather made it so you could just sit there all day reading, relaxing. walk around the muesum next door
My wife and I had our wedding there also a couple weeks ago, couldnt think of a better place. We had ours at dusk, that way you can enjoy the fountain lights as they changed colors and also see the lights of downtown behind us. Best part, its free, if you set up anything such as a PA system you will need to get ahold of somebody to get power cords ran, but if not, just show up. Perfect spot.
My husband and I just had our wedding at Friendship Fountain this past Saturday and it turned out just beautiful!!! It was a very romantic setting with the fountain and the river - it was exactly what we had both dreamed of!!!
