The massive, roaring Athabasca Falls are 30 kilometers (18 miles) south of Jasper on the Athabasca River. Self-guided trails and interpretive exhibits surround the falls. A lookout spot and bridge provide vantage points for photos and contemplation. The falls, surrounded by odd rock formations thousands of years in the making, are also a take-off point for white water rafting. Pack a lunch and grab one of the picnic tables in the warming sun. This really is a beautiful place. Huge water fall that leads to a peaceful river with a backdrop of snow covered mountians. What more could you ask for?
Powerful waterfalls squeezed through a narrow canyon. One of the must see natural attractions along the Icefields Parkway. Car parking with picnic facilities lie a short way off the main highway then it is a very short walk to the falls themselves with several vantage points including a bridge over the falls with views to the towering Rockies behind.
