Based on other I reviews I was a little apprehensive about staying here with our group, but it wasn't as bad as some reviews had said. The carpet and upholstered pieces are in need of replacement and the shower door leaked, but the room was overall clean. The internet was accessible from my room and the cost was not too high. The food in the dining room could have been better; there were usually 3/4 entree courses and 5-7 salad courses with about the same number of desserts. Service was good and the staff was cooperative.
i like every thing about this hotel there is nothing you cant like in there!the room were in credibel and the POOOL a love it!!!!!!!i also LOVE the SPA!!!!!
we've been there twelve years ago and it was the best hotel in jerusaelm so we wanted to stay there again BUT...it was just the opposite you expect from a 5 stars hotel. the staff is not qualified. we wanted to complain about almost everything but there was noone to hear us. they didn't clean the room or the bathrooms they put dirty sheets. only put clean towels. a nightmare!
Located in a great spot, with great potential, this hotel has much work to be done. The rooms are beginning to look worn and dated. Furnishings were stained and looked quite used. The public areas were nice enough, particularly the atrium and the large dining room. SERVICE was lousy. No concierge. In the bar, the staff was rude. If this is the only place you can afford, you could do much worse. HOwever, if you can afford more, go for it.
After spending 3 days in the wonderful hotel in Conrad Hotel in Cairo and 4 days in the Hyatt on the red sea on the border in Taba We were looking forward to Jerusalem and staying at the regency. I was extremely dissapointed since we arrived till when we left. It took 10 minutes to find someone to take our luggage from the taxi inside. The room was completely different from the pictures it was from 1970 and the television was very antique which was working wrong and we had to get a maintenance man three times because usually one channel worked. The sleeper bed broke in the middle of the night. The morning when we woke and my wife showered the drains were clogged up to the point she was showering with the level up to her knees. Even the sink was wrong. The pipes must be really bad. I know this property was once part of the Hyatt but if I was The Hyatt Ii would have the name removed so other travelers would expect a two star hotel instead of a quality one. We had a three day stay supposedly and checked out in one day.
I could go on for days about all the grievances I have against this hotel. I will start from the moment I walked in. I was greated by an unfriendly security agent who appeared to have no idea what he was doing. The visit was in December, a cool 50 or 60 degree average temperature for this time of year. During the visit, however, the city was somewhat warm but I was very hot and needed a nice cool room to check in to. When I opened the door I almost fainted by the heat!!! When I called downstairs to ask them about the air conditioning they rudely replied that they COMPLETELY turn off air conditioning during the winter months despite temperatures sometimes reaching the low 70s. The best I could do was turn the heat off and open the door to the balcony (which by the way was shared with EVERY room on the floor!) The next thing that happend was the awful television in the room. When I tried to order a movie, the "interactive" menu system failed to work despite replacing the remote. Fair enough, I decided, I just watched one of the three channels offered in English. (Other hotels have at least 8 or 9 english channels). The next thing is the bathrooms. The shower was rediculous. Instead of a conventional curtain, the shower had a glass door which opened out into the bathroom. Since the door was made out of clear glass, nobody else could use the bathroom while one person was in the shower. Also, you would have to wait until all the water was down the drain before opening the door or else the bathroom would turn into a lake. Also, the door wouldn't close all the way, resulting in frequent flooding and wetness everywhere. Another problem with the bathroom was the toilet, at night the toilet would not stop running, despite several attempts to explain to the staff what the problem was (they didn't understand what a running toilet was). So I just decided to deal with the loud water running noise which occured ALL throughout the night. The final and most significant problem I hade with this hotel was the staff and service. Throughout my 5 night stay at this hotel, I only spoke with ONE kind person. Every other staff member had the tone of voice like "why is HE calling agian?" All I wanted was a room that was below 80 degrees and a room without a running toilet and maybe even a room that wasnt 2 inches deep in water every time I took a shower. One time I was trying to catch a cab but failing to do so since my hebrew is quite shabby. The man in front of the hotel refused to get me a cab and just pointed towards the street and offered no help what-so-ever. Believe it or not, I do have a few benefits of this hotel. One, was the view. Almost every room (besides mine of course) had a lovely view of the old city and the rest of Jerusalem. Another pro was the breakfast, although it was not the Best ever, it had a wide variety of food selections. The overall Verdict: Don't stay here unless you are receiving an irresistable deal that cannot be refused. Also, if you like rooms under 80 degrees, don't stay there in the winter.
I stayed at this hotel for 5 or 6 nights on the Birthright Israel trip and we were treated with respect, the service was good, they catered to our needs, and served large quantities of quality food. Only problem, sheets weren't changed often.
You enter this hotel and you are in paradise on earth. The atrium with a beautiful skylight and as you go down the escalinate to the cafe, you see a cascading fountain going down three floors. As you cross the cafe, you can go out into a beautiful terrace and see the golden dome and the old city of Jerusalem. The location is quite and the facilities are superb, particularly the swiming pool, buffet breakfast and young people that work in the hotel.
