They have finally repaved the road so its not hazardous as it was! The falls are beautiful, its easy to drive up to but the trail to the bottom is dangerous so dont try it! The falls sometimes have a LOT of water going over and sometimes not so much. It changes everyday which is so cool! Its a free stop so go see it and enjoy the majesty of wailua falls!

I use to live on the island of Kauai and went to high school there. This is both an awesome view and historical area. The road to the area is not the best, but well worth it. I would gladly put up with the road to get to that area again just to enjoy the view and feel the spray from the falls. I now live in the South and while I will not knock where I now live, it is nothing compared to Kauai.

Scenic but chuck hole ridden road. You almost think you're not going the right way but follow the initial sign. There is some parking at the very end of the line. Worth seeing by far.

Very affordable and like nothing you see for the most part stateside. Lots of wildlife in the area too. Don't like the new fence constructed as it blocks some of the view.

Contrary to the earlier review there is a small parking lot next to the overlook. Also the view from the top just does not do this falls justice. You really need to do the hike down to get the full effect. The hike is about intermidiate level there are a few sections were it is so steep that you must hold on to the ropes in the trail. Also I have been twice and if it has not rained recently there will not be much water running over the falls so if your there for multiple days head out after a good rain fall.

To get to the falls, one must drive down a small road. My family and I thought we were lost when we were trying to find the falls. But amazingly we were on the right road. There is also no parking for viewing the falls. You will have to park along side the road and walk a few steps to see the falls. Actually, the most interesting thing about the falls the day we were there was the crew filming a commercial by the falls. They were working with a helicopter to get items in and out of the pit that the falls fall into. Not bad but not spectacular either.
