We've visited Key West a few times, now..and consider this to be one of our best "finds". Stroll along the boardwalk, past the yachts and tall ships and catamarans that offer sunset cruises...and have an eye out for The A&B Lobster House. The main level...on the dock is Alonzo's...an informal, harbourfront, Oyster bar. Alonzo's has both indoor and outdoor seating, so on those rare days that there is a chill in the air...or for those who've had a touch too much sun, there are booths inside. The really great thing about Alonzo's is their "happy hour(s)" from 4-6 every day. Grab a menu...absolutely everything on the first couple of pages is half price! Everything! Oyster specialties, crab cakes and other appetizers, assorted brands of beer (local and premium) and select cocktails. 2 people can easily share 2 or 3 appetizers and enjoy a couple of Coronas apiece for under $20...and walk away comfortably full. The staff is attentive and helpful, without being invasive; the atmosphere is friendly and upbeat...like the rest of the Keys, it's completely informal. If you are hungry and looking for a great deal and some variety...or if you just want to sit and relax with some drinks while waiting for the spectacular sunset views from Mallory Square---this is a great place! Want a really "special" meal? Go straight upstairs. A&B is one of the finer dining establishments in Key West. The prices are comparable to other Lobster houses, but the food and service is in a class of it's own. For the royal treatment...(and fishing/diving tips) ask for John!
