Overview
To get a look at the denizens of the deep, sail aboard this glass-bottom boat that shows you much of what you'd see on a scuba or snorkeling expedition. Docked at the Holiday Inn Resort & Marina, the Key Largo Princess sails three times a day on two-hour tours of the reefs just offshore, showing you the amazing variety of plants, coral and fish that occupy these shallow waters. The company has two beautiful 50 ft catamarans that have plenty of space and were very stable, and the crew are absolutely wonderful. We had an amazing cruise motored out to the reef sailed back and they gave us free rum punch. The crew were great with the kids let them drive on the way home and gave them little certificates and even had a limbo contest. Definitely call this company you won't be disappointed.
Give these guys a call when you want the best snorkeling service in Key Largo. My family and I went and had an amazing time. The crew is incredibly friendly and helped me out a ton....(I'm not too experienced in the water!) They gave me free instruction and put together my new mask and snorkel. They even have gear you can rent if you don't have your own for only $7. They took us out to two different reefs and explained all of what we saw including fish, a turtle, a sting ray and even a sea urchin!! They were especially helpful with the kids. I have a seven and a nine year that aren't too experienced either and the captain and mate on the boat took extra time out to show them how it's done. The captain even let my kiddos "drive" the boat on the way home...they got to sit in the captain's chair and wear a pirate hat! It was adorable. So if you're gonna take a trip to Key Largo, definitely check out Reef Roamer / Quicksilver Catamarans. They have three trips daily at 9am, 12:30pm and 5pm. I didn't get to the the sunset trip while I was there but apparently you get free rum punch and champagne on that one. Next time we will get a baby sitter so we can go on that one too!! The number for them is 305-453-0110 and they are located just outside of the Ramada Inn at mile marker 100. Hope this helps! I recommend it to anyone!!!! Sincerely, Traveler
Of course it's not as good as snorkeling. But for those who can't swim or get wet, or even just don't want to swim or get wet, it's a good trip. Friendly crew, good drinks. Strawberry Daiquiri to die for. Discounts can be found in the tourist brochures in hotel lobbies and tourist centers, sometimes in your room. You can call ahead of time, and ask any questions you have. It's a 2 hour ride departing at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm. You can make a reservation. Coming in 30 minutes before the departure saves you from the last minute rush. You buy the tickets in the gift shop in the Holiday Inn lobby. The gift shop has awesome touristy stuff and stuff in general. Kids toys, gifts for grown-ups, some of those items you need badly but forgot at home. Little odds and ends and then some. When at the reef they answer all the questions you have, but they pretty much tell you all you need to know. Stories and reasons some fish are named what they are. The crew and the gift shop clerks told me it's even better at night or even when it's cloudy. They say there's more activity since the sun doesn't shine off the fishes scales to let the predators know where they are. Even though there's only daytime tours for the most part, it's a good tour. Educational, and fun for adults and kids.
