Seven miles from Port Antonio-follow the signs to Blue Hole or Blue Lagoon-you'll stumble across a perfect circle of startlingly intense and deep (180 feet), dark turquoise water. Along the shoreline is a casual restaurant, a decent place to have a meal or a drink and simply enjoy this remarkable site. Water skiing, scuba diving and glass bottom boat rides are offered here. Be sure to bring your camera.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PMGreat colors of the water, blue, green and somewhere between too. Water is cold in some places and warm in others. It's definitely worth the trip. The "Blue Hole" as the locals call it is great. The only thing is the Husslers standing outside asking for an "entry fee" when it's a public place. They ask you for a boat ride, if you don't take it, they want some J$150 per person. Though the place is fun.
WOW!!! In short, the world's finest swimming hole. The Blue Lagoon is several hundred feet wide and 200 feet deep. The water is spectacular; the lagoon is made up of sea water entering from the surface(the surface of the lagoon meets the surface of the Caribbean Sea where the beach is only a few feet deep) and mineral spring water(river water entering through rocks at the bottom and the soil of the lagoon, fed by the Blue Mountains). While swiiming in the Blue Lagoon you will feel streams of warm water at times, and streams of cold water at others. There are parts where the water is shallow enough to walk right in, some with steep slopes and others with slight slopes. You can even see the mineral water bubbling through the ground in some spots, and they evn use it for spa and therapy purposes. They have A nice restaurant on the water front with a dive shop, even renting kayaks and scuba equipment. I would say no Jamaica trip is complete without a trip here..... Its great for all ages and types of people, and its not a very "known" attraction.
