Overview
Up for a day trip? The adventurous visitor will want to check out this majestic waterfall, known as the Niagara of Jamaica. Scale the 600-foot limestone rock formation as water cascades past you and splashes into the ocean below. Guides lead groups carefully, with group members linking hands for the steep ascent. Small pools of water and excellent photo opportunities will greet you along the way. Afterwards, relax at the beach restaurant or browse through the artisan market.Open Hours
Mo to Su from 08:30 AM to 04:00 PMMy husband and I went on a cruise this past September and one of our shore excursions included Dunn's River Falls...we knew we would be climbing the falls but we didn't expect it to be so treacherous! Don't get me wrong...it was awesome but it can be a little scary in places! The tour guides make you form a human chain to go up the falls but it is impossible to hold hands the entire way up...if you try to you will probably end up slipping and bring down part of your chain with you! I had my husband behind me and that is a good thing because he was there to give me a booty push when I needed help up! You get to stop at a few pools along the way for a rest and a chance to look at the beautiful scenery...they have a videographer follow you up the falls and you get to mug for the camera and the video...you can buy the DVD or the VHS ath the end of the tour...we bought the DVD for $40...a little pricey but who knows if you'll ever get to experience this awesomeness again? All in all, Dunn's River Falls is an amazing experience...but if you have a hard time climbing in regular activities you might want to re-think this or if you have specific health problems like asthma or heart problems...but then again, you might be fine...we had two grandma's in their 60's or so on our tour and they did fine! It was fun and it was something that we will ALWAYS remember!
I'm female and oveweight and was able to climb the Falls. If I could do it, you can too. It is gorgeous, and an excursion not to be passed up. My husband is 63 and climbed the fall without any problems. It looks scary, because of the rushing water, but it really isn't. All you have to do is take your time.
There pizza is to die for. The people on the edge where a gate is there are beggers. They try to give you stuff and tell you to bring the money back. The ride to the falls wasnt bad. It was aggervation to hold hands. We had a wedding / honeymoon there. It was beautiful. I didnt have to do anything. Best part our recepition was all alone and quiet. People we meet locals and not were all so seet and respectful. The nite life is crazy.
Dunns River is one of the best places you could go in Jamaica. It gives you a different vibes. You know, you climb the falls and you have the salt and the frsh water right therwm If you dont want anymore salt then feel free to take a dip in the cool fresh ever flowing water coming from the beautiful falls. it is just one of those places you have to see when vacationing in jamaica. The beach is cllean and the people very friendly. Make sure when you stop by Jamaica you stop by one of the places that make Jamaica the apradise it is, make sure you take a way up the Dunns river falls. IRIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was scarey and very fun!!!I really recommend ocho rios for a honey moon or for vacation, you won't regret to go there!! It's unexpensive and the people is very friendly!!
The falls are just beautiful!!!! just a couple of issues the video I got from the local guides is not the geatest quality and the local vendors are very agresive, the want to shake hands and if you do you better get ready to pull out your hand because they wont let go until you purchase something. You dont want to be ugly and you might trust them, however if you are not a local you only mean $$$$ for them!!!
you wouldn't think that you could climb it! but you can! the guides are amazingly helpful with your getting up the falls. just hold hands and you'll be ok! I loved it!
This was thee most amazing thing I have ever done in my life...most definitly something that everyone who visits Jamaica should endure...The tour guides are so helpful and knowledge able (Markus) was ours (Much LOVE) Just take caution and be safe!!..Running shoes a must although u can rent water shoes there I would recommed runners and leave anything U DO NOT want to get wet on the bus or in the lockers...From the momment u start till the momment u are done it is alllllllll about getting wet!!!........Loved it!!
I loved the Beautiful senery I don't dislike anything about it. You Can see the clear blue ocean out the balcony. I suggest to see it yourself!!
We went to Dunn's River Falls, which was very thrilling. The water was cool at first but you got used to it. It looks steep but the climb is slow and steady i wouldn't recommend it to old people because my grandparents didn't like it when she went, it was exerting. We did buy the video because i knew we wouldn't remember every little detail. They did stop and take pictures of your family with you water camera, disposable, or digital ( some people risked bringing theirs but i didn't want to) It you want to get in the video make sure you are in the front of the line because no one at the end of our tour was in it. There were natural water slides that we went down and we did a dead mans drop into about 3ft of water which was kind of scary. Make sure if you go into the shops at the end you stay together with your family and remember NOTHING IS FREE, and bargain to about half of their original price. The currency is 1 US dollar = 61 Jamaican dollars.
