Overview

Johann Füchting was an important man in 17th Centurty Lübeck. He was not only a merchant, but also a member of the city council. With these funds, Füchtings Hof (or Füchting´s Yard) was built in 1639, a residential complex for the impoverished widows of seamen and merchants. In its time, Füchtings Hof was comfortable and spacious. In the house at the end of the yard, a very special treasure can be found, the former Vorsteherzimmer, or director´s room, still with its complete original furniture dating from the 17th century.
