Overview

Wanna soar over the sea? Since 1928, adventurers have been soaring from the cliffs at this location. Paragliding lessons (three to four days) cost around USD495 and hangliding lessons cost USD125 per hour. The fastest way to experience flight is to go tandem with an instructor for a 20-minute ground school followed by a 25-minute in-air flight, which costs USD150 per person. Reservations are required for lessons, none accepted for tandem flights, just call for weather conditions before coming. For the less bold, sit and watch the activity from the outdoor cafe or browse through the High Flying Gift Shop. The Gliderport has been selected as number six in the top ten ultimate adventure camps in America by the Outdoor Life Network.

GliderPortby Yahoo | 2005-01-28 07:57:31 |

it's a great view of the coast and gliders! You can lookout over the sea, down on to black's beach, or watch the people para-gliding around. There are also some R/C plane pilots launching gliders off the cliffs on occassion too. My suggestion: pack a lunch. The little hamburger shop up there is nicely located, but relatively expensive (8 bucks for a hamburger with cheese, a small bag of chips, and a can of soda). That's at least 200% profit!

One of the highlights of the trip. Could have spend the entire day looking out over the Pacific...and by the way, there were these cool gliders.

Not Fair!!!!by Yahoo | 2004-08-26 20:31:05 |

I just learned the gliderport provides at their $$$$ expense $$$$$$The ONLY toilet facilities for the entire beach.....This is not right..........the city should put and pay foradditional facilities away from the gliderport. Also if you have handicapped person in your care, once a monththe gliderport caters to them. People in wheelchairs are flown and special handicapped bathrooms are installed just for theirconvience. This place aims to please; also the food is quite good.

Execellent unless you HAVE TO PEE!!!!!!!!by Yahoo | 2004-08-23 23:05:46 |

They have 3 blue portapottys that haven't been servicedin so long you can see the pile sticking up almostto the seat. The stench is unbearable. These facilitieshave not been serviced since the last time I was therea long time ago...........Will not go there ever untilthis is taken care of.

the views alone are well worth the visitby Yahoo | 2004-06-27 02:13:48 |

the glideport overlooks a magnificent stretch of the pacific ocean from the top of a tall cliff. if you are not adventerous enough to try hang gliding, you must at least visit once to watch a spectacular sunset. bring some warm clothing in the colder months as it might get a bit chilly.
