The Hauptbahnhof has everything a traveler could want: groceries, all kinds of food, shopping (clothes, souvenirs, etc.), bars, coffee shops, fresh flowers, banks & ATMs (accepting international cards), and incredible public transportation. You can easily tell that the Hauptbahnhof in Leipzig is the largest in Europe; the main hall is absolutely incredible in size. It's not unlikely to hear 10+ different languages here, as many people stop as they are traveling across Europe.

While traveling on a Eurailpass I took a side trip to Leipzig to kill a few hours. I stepped into the train station and didn't want to leave. It is one of the most incredible stations I've ever been to. It's a beautiful Multi-Level Shopping Mall! You can spend hours there. I did walk around town to see the downtown area, but came right back to the station to explore some more. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the area, stop and see this place.
