Visitors to Leipzig will soon discover the Mädlerpassage, a ritzy shopping mall restored by the controversial construction tycoon Jürgen Schneider. This is on Grimmaische Straße, one of the city's best-known and liveliest streets. Visitors can stroll from the Thomaskirche at one end of the street to the Opera House at the other, and admire the street's historic town houses on the way. It's also worth exploring the side streets and alleyways which lead off the main street or else popping into one of the numerous cafés which line this beautiful part of the city.
